A Guide To Understanding Yourself.

We do not see things; we see meanings.
But why do we see meanings?
This is because the fundamental nature of a Human being is meaningless.

When one fails to accept themselves as meaningless, you will see that they will attach meaning to each and every aspect of their lives and make a misery out of it.

You cannot accept the blue sky as the blue sky, the grass as the grass itself.
You want the sky to be a metaphor for depth and beauty, while the grass symbolises freshness and growth.
What really stops you from looking for something the way it is?

It is important to note that the meaning is not an inherent property of the object. Instead, the meaning is something that is superimposed upon the object by the perceiver.
Do you wonder why the same sunset viewed by different people is expressed differently by each of them?
This is because, in actuality, they did not see the sunset. They were busy with their own meanings and experiences. They missed it.

If you do not attribute meaning to any object, the very object becomes useless.
It is the same with your mind, emotions and body.
To look beyond the chaos of the mind, one does not need to torture it. Instead, simply watch the qualities you have attributed to it.
You want your mind to be happy, sad, pleasant, unpleasant, smart, stupid, intellectually, emotionally, and what not. These are attributes that you have imposed upon your mind.
Once you know that your mind is a self-created misery machine that was created by you for entertainment, these attributes can consciously be dropped.

The world is not the cause of misery; our perception of the world is.

Your failure to look at the world as it is has resulted in disastrous consequences.

Your chaotic desire to interpret the word ‘on your terms’ has led to excruciating pain.

Does that imply that one interpretation is better than the other? For example, one says that the world is all flowers and sunshine, while the others view it as a dark, stingy den.
Is one better than the other?
Not really. Both are in the same boat. The boat is sinking anyway; the only difference is that one end of the boat has sunlight, and the other is dark; regardless, both are sinking because they have no idea that it is sinking!

Oh, the Irony!

You spend your life switching ends of the boat, unknown to the fact that it is sinking anyway.
